Andrew Ave PTG November Minutes - 11/10/14 - Submitted by Jen Stone

Called to Order at 6:36pm

Meeting Attendance:  Jen Stone, Kristen Miceli, Marilyn O'Donnell, Richard O'Donnell, Toni Cestari, Patty Wasilewski, Taran Gruber

Principal's Report:  Literacy Night was a success.  Happy with turn-out.  Lots of teachers there. Next one is Nov. 20th from 6:30-7:30.  Will address questions about Common Core.  Hired a new art teacher.  It is a ½ time position so it is very hard to keep a person in that position.  Music position will be hiring soon.  This position is a full time position but is at three different schools.

October meeting minutes:  Motion to approve Toni, Second Marilyn

Treasurer's Report:  Motion to approve Toni, second Taryn.  We are down about $2,000 from our first fundraiser.  Need to make up the difference so that we can continue to fund field trips/events.

Turkey Trot - Jen Stone - Nov. 25th.  Flyers will go home this week.  Parent Volunteers needed.  Art students have been making the feather.  Mr. Gruber will ask the art teacher to make the turkey bodies.

Winter Festival - Heather Deegan - 12/19 snow date will be 1/9.  Theme is winter/frozen.  5th grade students will come in to sing a few songs.  Heather is asking for donations of raffle prizes (sleds, snow ball makers, igloo makers, gloves, hats etc. winter themed).  Cost for event will be about $100.  There will be crafts, cookie and hot coco.

Field Trip - We are in desperate need for a coordinator to work with teachers on their budget, busing, etc.  No one at the meeting was interested in this job.  Looking for one parent/staff member who would like to take this on.  (PLEASE)

Rock Cats field trip - Tentative date of 5/28.  Mr. Warren will run this event.  Cost per child TBA.  Fundraisers to help offset the cost of this event.  Teacher for a day (x2), fitness nite, etc.

Cup Cake Wars - Marilyn & Richard O'Donnell - Feb 26th (snow date 2/27) More information to follow.  Get your baking and creativity skills ready for this new and exciting event!!!

St. Paddy's Dance - Jen Stone will run in March

Cookie Dough Fundraiser - Patty - Easy fundraising ideas  - $10 each tubs for premade cookies.  Minimum of 120, no shipping.  Group was nervous about the minimum.   Patty will research more and report back.

Pampered Chef - Marilyn - order forms went out.  We already have some online orders.  Return date of Nov 21st.

Suggestion was made that it would be nice to have at least one faculty/staff member (besides Mr. Gruber) at each meeting.

Green House - Mike Stopa is very interested in getting it up and running and would like to have a few people to help him with it.  Mr. Gruber suggested that we wait until the spring.  Suggestion was made to send out a flyer looking for help!

Nurse Supplies - Send out flyer looking for donations.  PTG will buy tissues

Special Person Dance - (like Daddy/Daughter or Mother/Son) - will discuss for future.

Sound Tigers game - Jen Stone - Naugatuck Day - Sunday Feb 22, 2015 3pm game time.  Tickets $16.  50/50 raffle will go to the 2 Naugatuck Schools with the most ticket sales.  Sound Tigers would like to have the mascot come to school one day to promote the event.
