At the PTO meeting on Wednesday, President Ms. O'Donnell shared lots of ideas for fundraisers after Taran presented his Principal's Report (included state of the school address, new teachers, start of the year, restorative practices, facilities update and space concerns.)
The new Vice President is Kendra Frederick and the Secretary is Michella Casas.
Jeannine Fundraiser (chaired by Toni Cestare) begins Sept. 15 and ends Oct. 3 with delivery before Thanksgiving.
Other ideas include Penny Wars, Trick or Trunk (perhaps in conjunction with the fall festival this year so that there is more stuff for the students to do after trick or treating) Party Lite Candles (they get 40% of sales) G. Burgers, Winter Fest (need a chairperson) Baby Picture Contest, Zumba and Brush Strokes. Also, Mixed Bag (which allows online ordering and home delivery) and Butter Braids.
Already scheduled is American Pie in Seymour for Sunday, Oct. 23. They earn 20% of total sales. Just mention AAES.
School Store is on Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30 to 9:00am. Volunteers are needed to run it.
PTO collects empty ink cartridges, cell phones and gently used shoes.There was also a plea for library volunteers.
This year they hope to bring Ocean Rock in for an assembly. They would also like to do a movie outside (like a Drive In.) The movie rights would cost $175.
There will be a PTO table in the hall during Open House, and dinner for teachers will be provided!
Book Fair #1 will be during Parent Conferences (Oct. 17 - 21) This is the one they make money on and the second will be Buy One, Get One.
There was a nice turn out for this meeting, so we moved to the Library. The next meeting will be Tuesday, October 4 at 6:30, because they will be alternating days.
